Expansive sandy beach in a fantastic location just a few minutes walk from the castle and cathedral ruins and harbour. The beach offers great views of rugged coastline to the east and distant hills across the sea to the northwest. It's also dog friendly and a good place for a walk. The beach is patrolled by lifeguards during peak season when it is a popular watersports location. At the time of my visit on a January evening I had it completely to myself, a very peaceful spot to finish a great visit to St Andrews. There's free roadside parking a couple of minutes walk away near the harbour, no problem finding a space in winter but I'd imagine summer would be a different story.

Another fantastic beach in St Andrews, not as long to walk as West Sand, but both here and West Sands are so close to the town it does not take long to walk. The perks of East Sands is it is so close to the castle and cathedral ruins with the harbour close by to you can make the most of a long afternoon around this area of the town, especially if you visit the fantastic Cheesy Toast Shack from the best toasties around.

Beautiful, lengthy and spacious beach. Great for bathing, relaxing, sandcastle buildings and dog walks. Life guards present during summer months. Home to the amazing Cheesy Toast Shake with a variety of fillings, ice creams and drinks including barista made coffees and frappes.

What a beautiful beach ⛱️ Golden sand with silver glittery sparkles and clear water. Had a incredible day out. Bring sandwiches if you go because there isn't a close chippy and the sandwich bar is a little pricey although really nice food

First off ma lip gloss got sand all over a was raging and to top it ma lips got hairy because the sand was all over my lip gloss and this was only just getting out the car. Then when i got back to my car there was what i can only describe as an adult nappie stuck to ma car windows!

The East Sands is a beautiful quiet beach by St Andrews. It was always nice to walk alongside it on the path because it was quite stony. In the winter it's great because it's much quieter and it's a great place to take the dog.

A mesmerising beach extending far into the waters. My only complaint about this little haven is that it often becomes too crowded, particularly during the summer months. Come to the beach early in the morning or late at night. Hopefully, at night, the clouds will dissipate, and you will have a clear view of the moon and the stars. Swim in the water if you wish in the summer, but do be reminded that it is still quite cold. The tempestuous Scottish weather rarely relents. I highly recommend coming here at low tide, and walking all the way from the coastline to the water's edge. Look back, and you will hardly be able to see the buildings you left behind.

St Andrews East Sands and Harbour- beach is generally clean with shallow slope into the sea which makes for safe swimming and bathing. Local vendors selling snacks and drinks with public toilets nearby.
